Lockwood played two seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide but had limited involvement, making only one catch for five yards across his tenure. As a former four-star recruit in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite, Lockwood participated in 37 offensive snaps, with 28 of those coming this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
His departure adds to the recent changes in the tight end group, as primary starters CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts are leaving due to expiring eligibility. Among the returning players are Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis Jr. Cuevas is set to begin his second season with the program after transferring from Washington with coach Kalen DeBoer, while Lewis initially entered the transfer portal but chose to stay with the team.
