BREAKING NEWS: 4-Star Football Recruit Pushes Commitment After Mom’s Insistence Not To Settle For Alabama

Four-star defensive back Jorden Edmonds was originally set to announce his college commitment on his birthday, February 19th. However, at his mother’s urging, he has decided to delay his decision.

Edmonds has long been viewed as favoring Alabama, but uncertainty now surrounds whether the Crimson Tide will ultimately secure his commitment.

Ranked as the fifth-best cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class by 247 Sports, Edmonds had offers from top programs nationwide before narrowing his choices to five finalists: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Alabama was widely considered the favorite, and he was expected to commit to the Tide this month—but that is no longer the case.

With no new announcement date set, Edmonds has since received additional offers from LSU, Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, and Notre Dame, as he shared on his X account.

That postponement was music to his mother’s ears. She spoke with 247 Sports at the Under Armour Atlanta regional in January. Janae Edmonds urged her son to take his time.

“I’m a little worried because you want him to go through the whole process. You don’t want to rush something so big… I think he’s exhausted, I think he’s overwhelmed with all of it. He missed the whole first week of school (this semester) because he was away for the Navy All-American Bowl. When all the college coaches came to visit him (in January), it was a concentrated time.

“Things are evolving. I want him to continue going through the process.”
