While Auburn basketball has been generating a lot of buzz, football remains a key focus for the Tigers. Head coach Hugh Freeze has been actively recruiting, and while results have been mixed, he has secured a crucial official visit from a highly-rated prospect.
Four-star cornerback J’Vari Flowers has scheduled visits with his top six schools: Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Syracuse, Miami, and Auburn. His Auburn visit is set for March 6, just a few weeks before spring practices begin.
Currently, Auburn has six hard commits in its 2026 recruiting class, including four four-star recruits. Adding Flowers would bring that total to five, strengthening an already impressive class.
However, Auburn faces stiff competition. SEC rivals Florida and Georgia are also pursuing Flowers, while UNC and Syracuse represent northern options. Miami, his hometown school, is also in the mix.
Flowers is ranked as the No. 41 cornerback in the 2026 class and the No. 42 player in Florida. He plans to announce his commitment on March 31, just a week after his final visit. However, a commitment doesn’t necessarily mean it’s final—he could still de-commit or take additional visits afterward.
Freeze has a tough challenge ahead, competing with top programs for Flowers. If he manages to secure his commitment, it would be a major boost to Auburn’s defense, as Flowers has the potential to be a standout in any secondary.
