Georgia’s offseason typically involves significant roster and staff changes, with over a dozen players declaring for the NFL Draft and more than 20 entering the transfer portal. However, this year, the coaching staff has remained intact, with no assistants departing. Instead, Georgia has strengthened what is already considered one of the top coaching staffs in college football.

On Wednesday, Matt Zenitz reported that former TCU defensive analyst Garrett Cox is expected to join Georgia’s staff. Cox has previous experience at TCU, Michigan, Tennessee, and Alabama, where he worked alongside Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann. His expertise in coaching linebackers is believed to be the primary reason for his addition to the Bulldogs’ staff.

In the past, coaches like Glenn Schumann, Dan Lanning, and Mel Tucker have all worked under Smart in Athens. Cox now becomes the latest to join Georgia’s staff, following in the footsteps of Lanning—who is now Oregon’s head coach—and Schumann, who serves as Georgia’s defensive coordinator. Also pictured in reference is Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier.
