Alabama Crimson Tide is actively pursuing a top offensive lineman from the 2026 recruiting class. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt has included Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia,Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, USC, and Ohio State in his top eight schools. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 310 pounds, Schmitt hails from Windsor, Colorado, and plays for Windsor High School.
In addition to his top eight choices, Schmitt has received offers from Colorado State, Kansas State, Kansas, Michigan State, California, Washington, and more. Notably, Alabama is one of the few programs in his top eight that he has yet to visit. Schmitt is a four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 24 offensive tackle and the No. 2 player in Colorado for the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Currently, Nebraska leads in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 35.9% chance of landing Schmitt, followed by Oklahoma (31.4%), Tennessee (13.7%), Kansas State (7.7%), and Colorado State (4%).
If Schmitt commits, he would be Alabama’s first offensive tackle recruit for the 2026 class. The Crimson Tide’s current 2026 class includes four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson and four-star edge prospects.
Under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer, Alabama finished the 2024 season with a nine-win record. The team started 4-0, including a 41-34 victory over No. 2 Georgia but suffered a surprising 40-35 loss to unranked Vanderbilt. Alabama rebounded with a close 27-25 win over South Carolina before falling to Tennessee 24-17. After a three-game winning streak, the Tide lost to Oklahoma 24-3 but later defeated Auburn in the “Iron Bowl” before ending the season with a 19-13 loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
