Several Texas Longhorns prospects are showcasing their skills at the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Among them, defensive back Jahdae Barron delivered an impressive performance. On Friday, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds, ranking sixth among participating defensive backs. His strong showing earned him a spot in NFL Network’s Chad Reuter’s “stock up” section.
Barron also recorded a 1.5-second 10-yard split, a metric Reuter believes further boosted his draft stock. Reuter even compared him to Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro corner Trent McDuffie, noting their similar size and build. Barron made a significant impact in the SEC last season, leading the conference in interceptions while tallying 67 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.
“Barron needed to impress in the 40-yard dash after measuring on the smaller side (5-foot-10 3/4, 29 5/8-inch arms), and he did not disappoint,” Reuter said. “His 4.39-second 40 and 1.5-second 10-yard split at 194 pounds confirmed his ability to compete against NFL receivers, significantly boosting his draft stock.
A former three-star recruit in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, Barron played 57 games for Texas from 2020 to 2024. He was a Consensus All-American last season, and his production speaks for itself. Over his five-year career with the Longhorns, he amassed 226 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, two sacks, and eight interceptions.
