One such piece for Washington is running back Jeremy McNichols, who has returned on a one-year deal. McNichols was part of a strong Commanders backfield last season and hopes to make another meaningful impact. According to ESPN, bringing him back carries no risk for Washington.
“None,” ESPN noted. “McNichols provided solid relief, and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury demonstrated he knew exactly how to utilize him. The real risk would be if Washington fails to draft another running back in a deep class. They need someone who can add more dynamic playmaking ability. With Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler leading the backfield, McNichols saw limited action last season. However, when given opportunities, he proved his value.
In back-to-back games, he recorded 68 and 44 rushing yards with two touchdowns on just 15 combined carries. He also contributed rushing totals of 42, 20, 22, and 32 yards in other games, providing much-needed support for Robinson and Ekeler.
