Bill Belichick has achieved nearly everything possible as an NFL coach. However, despite his impressive track record, he may not be able to sway one of North Carolina’s former top 2026 recruits from choosing another program. On March 1, On3’s Hunter Shelton reported that 4-star edge rusher Zavion Griffin-Haynes has scheduled an official visit with the Georgia Bulldogs this summer. While Griffin-Haynes is still considering the Tar Heels, he decommitted from North Carolina following the team’s coaching change this offseason. The Bulldogs have been pursuing him even before his decommitment. On March 1, Griffin-Haynes announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he will visit Georgia during the weekend of June 6.

Even while committed to North Carolina, Griffin-Haynes spoke highly of the Bulldogs. “The love and effort they invest in the program ensure their players are taken care of in every way,” he told On3’s Jeremy Johnson in September. “They’re also genuine. They won’t mislead you, and they want the best talent on their team.” According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Griffin-Haynes is among the top 20 edge rushers in the 2026 recruiting class and ranks as a top 15 prospect in North Carolina. He is set to play his senior season this fall at Rolesville High School in Rolesville, NC.
