The Gators blew out FSU in Tallahassee to conclude the 2024 season.
The Florida State Seminoles had little to celebrate in 2024. With only one win over an FBS opponent, the Seminoles finished a disappointing 2-10 season, marked by several blowout losses. As the season wound down, the focus shifted almost entirely to the offseason and what changes head coach Mike Norvell would make to address one of the worst seasons in the program’s history.
Florida State ended the year with a 31-11 defeat to the Florida Gators at Doak Campbell Stadium. This loss ended their two-game winning streak in the rivalry, as the Gators took control of Tallahassee, even planting a flag at midfield after the game, a gesture that Norvell promptly tossed away.

The postgame drama was arguably the most intense part of the night. However, Florida may have a future star in sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway. Although he didn’t put up a spectacular performance against the Seminoles, Lagway did enough to secure the win, completing 14 of 22 passes for 133 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
The most memorable play from Lagway was when he evaded a sack attempt by Darrell Jackson, spun out of the pocket, and completed a downfield pass for a first down.
