An unforgettable showdown unfolded in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night as No. 8 Ohio State outlasted No. 5 Texas in a thrilling contest to punch their ticket to the national championship.
Tied at 14 heading into the fourth quarter, Ohio State quarterback Will Howard orchestrated a methodical drive, capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from Quinshon Judkins to give the Buckeyes a 21-14 lead with just over seven minutes remaining.
Texas responded with a determined drive, reaching Ohio State’s 1-yard line. However, the Buckeyes’ defense delivered a heroic stand, stopping the Longhorns on four consecutive plays. On fourth-and-goal, Jack Sawyer stripped Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, recovered the fumble, and returned it 83 yards for a game-sealing touchdown, securing a 28-14 victory for Ohio State.
