Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson are currently in strong positions after the latest voting update, with Towns ranking third among Eastern Conference frontcourt players (2,455,331 votes) and Brunson fourth among guards (1,243,385 votes). Their performances and team success have propelled them into serious contention for starting spots in the NBA’s marquee midseason event.
Towns’ All-Star Bid: Dominance in the Paint
Towns is delivering one of his best seasons yet, averaging 25.4 points and 13.9 rebounds per game, the latter ranking second in the league. His contributions have been pivotal to the Knicks’ 27-15 record, which gives them a notable edge over competitors like Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks (22-17). While Boston’s Jayson Tatum, averaging 27.7 points per game, remains a formidable rival, Towns’ all-around dominance keeps him firmly in the conversation for a starting nod.
Brunson’s Push for His First All-Star Start
Brunson is making a strong case for his first All-Star start with career-high averages of 26 points and 7.5 assists per game. Though he trails reigning All-Star MVP Damian Lillard of the Bucks by 27,000 votes, he has shown clutch play and dynamic leadership. Still, overtaking LaMelo Ball, the league’s fourth-leading scorer (29.6 PPG) and top three-point shooter (4.4 3PM), might prove challenging. Another contender, Donovan Mitchell, is bolstered by Cleveland’s league-best 34-6 record, adding competition to Brunson’s path.
If both players secure starting spots, it would mark a milestone for the Knicks and solidify Towns’ and Brunson’s standing as two of the NBA’s elite talents this season.
